September 24, 2012
TwinSpires.com, a wagering site based out of Louisville and owned by Churchill Downs Incorporated, has released information regarding a recent hack to their system which leaves approximately 20 percent of their customers’ information compromised. The company spokeswoman, Courtney Yopp Norris, is not releasing how many individuals were affected by this incident, but claims that the information available included account names, birth dates, and email addresses. While Social Security numbers have been accessed, these were encrypted and are believed to be protected. However, the company is mailing letters to those affected with information on signing up for credit protection services to ensure the safety and protection of their financial accounts.
